ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER LOCATOR FOR:

ISUZU

“Isuzu Smart Tip” in Ordering Service Parts

When ordering parts for your Isuzu diesel engine, it is best to reference the engine model and serial number. This information, paired together, contains the engine build listing of parts originally installed on your Isuzu engine at the time of manufacture. Click on the Isuzu Diesel Engine Model Serial Number Guide for specific reference information.

Isuzu uses "spec codes" to determine the components that make up that particular engine.  There should be a tag on the valve cover like the one in the picture below, that tells us the model of the engine and the "spec code".  This one shown is a 4LE1 model with a "spec code" of PW-01.  The two letters / two letters gives us the date code of the manufacture of the engine.  This is helpful when there is a production change on a part within the engine by date of manufacture.  It is helpful to us to insure that we provide you with the correct part when there was a production change in parts within an engine.  If the tag is missing or unable to be read, then we can determine the "spec code" from the engine serial number.  Information about where to find that is listed below...
